“You don’t have to earn being loved.”

By Mia

My best friend Ava gave me a diamond necklace last year. Not for my birthday. Not for Christmas. Not because of some huge life event. She gave it to me after one of the hardest years of my life.

At the time, I had just gone through a breakup, lost my job, and moved into a tiny apartment where half the lights barely worked. Everything felt uncertain. Ava was the person who stayed through all of it.

Celebrating the quiet strength of friendship and new beginnings.

She brought takeout when I stopped cooking. She sat on my kitchen floor with me at 2AM while I cried about feeling like my life was falling apart. And every single time I said, “I’m sorry for being a mess,” she’d always give me the same answer.

A few months later, things slowly started getting better. I found a new job. Started sleeping normally again. Started laughing again.

Then one afternoon, Ava asked me to meet her for coffee. She handed me a small box across the table and said: “I wanted you to have something that reminds you how strong you really are.”

"Inside was a necklace with a memorial diamond. Not made from loss. But made from memory."

She told me the idea came from all the little moments we survived together that year. The late-night drives. Voice notes. Inside jokes. Crying in parking lots. Healing slowly. I started crying right there in the café.

Because I realized something: The most important people in your life aren’t always the ones connected to tragedy. Sometimes they’re the people who quietly help you become yourself again. Now I wear that necklace almost every day. And whenever life feels heavy, I touch it for a second and think about everything we made it through together.

A beautiful truth about soulmates

Sometimes your soulmate is just the friend who never let go of your hand when life got difficult.

Thank you to VAELNIR for creating a space where love, friendship, and resilience can be locked into something eternal—reminding us that beautiful things can grow from our hardest seasons.
